Hi,I recently purchased an Acer laptop which had some application called MyWinLocker by EgisTec. My OS is Vista Home Premium. Now, the application does not work and on boot up, I always get an error message. I tried uninstalling, but that doe not work. I tried to re-install, but that also does not work. How do I get rid of this?! See the errors that I get below:when i was trying to use Mywinlocker, i had clicked on the update option. During the update, it crashed and ever since the program does not work and I cannot uninstall it either.when launching the program and on startup, i get the following error:the application has failed to start because sysenv.dll was not found.
MyWinLocker Suite Won’t Uninstall on Windows MyWinLocker Suite is a tool developed by Egis Technology and it arrives preinstalled on some Asus PCs. Its use is somewhat sophisticated and it enables you to encrypt files with passwords and it enables you to manage logins, personal information, etc. Hit the Windows key on your keyboard and select the Control Panel in the list. Click on Programs in Control Panel interface, right click the MyWinLocker and click on Uninstall to remove it. For example, a process like SuiteTray.exe should run from C:Program FilesEgisTec MyWinLockerSuitex86SuiteTray.exe and not elsewhere.
Re-installing the application may fix the problemwhen i try to reinstall from the acer restore program, it says an updated version is already installed and therefore nothing can be done.when i try to uninstall application, i click on change, and then it says:some files that need to be updated are currently in use:EgisUpdate Release Applicationthe option is then to automatically close and attempt to restart applicationswhen i click next, i get error 1722 = there is an error with this windows installer packagePlease help!Thx Vern. Try to uninstall it in safe modeWhile starting your computer tap the F8 key once every second during the memory count up, or during the system splash screen where you see the system maker's name (HP, COMPAQ, DELL.etc.)This will result in a text based menu. Use the cursors/arrow keys to navigate to SAFE MODE and hit enter.Does the problem recur in safe mode?hallo,i have had exactly the same problem and have also disabled the program from starting up automatically.
But after putting the machine in safe mode i still get the same message'some files that need to be updated are currently in use:EgisUpdate Release Applicationthe option is then to automatically close and attempt to restart applicationswhen i click next, i get error 1722 = there is an error with this windows installer package'please help thanks. I wonder why is that? And there was no Uninstall option when I went to Uninstall a program window and right clicked on MyWinLocker from listed programs. Only 'Change' option was given.Error 1722 showed up as well.Edited by k4131-ex, 15 February 2012 - 12:00 AM.
Just a note to anyone who stumbles across this thread, now that it seems that everyone's gone on to other matters.I had this very problem myself yesterday (while resurrecting a couple of Acer laptops from the scrap pile), and was unable to solve it satisfactorilly trying the steps discussed in this thread. And the downoad tool described above isn't there anymore, anyway. Now sipping a cup of coffee the next morning, I have a fresh perspective. My take on it is that the main problem, or should I say, the primary irritation to be eliminated isn't the fact that MyWinLocker can't be completely uninstalled. What is more bothersome is the fact that having its dismembered body parts still littering the system causes Windows to pause at boot-up, and clang an alarm, announcing the fact that it won't run.If that's what you want to fix, here's what you do:Run msconfig, click the Startup tab, and deselect everything that has to do with it (Egis Tec In-Product Service, and MyWinLocker, in my case). While you're at it, you can deselect other apps that you'd like to not have run at startup (like Skype, in my case), but don't want to uninstall.
Then hit 'OK,' and exit gracefully. When you reboot the system, the irritating alarm will have vanished.
